In addition to its spirited character, Chattanooga also boasts advanced medical and healthcare offerings that are unique - including the Erlanger Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center and the T. C. Thompson Children's Hospital, a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. Together they are the only trauma centers within 100 miles of the area, and primarily serve patients from Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina, with more than half of the patients coming from outside of the home county.
